DataStage ETL Engineer (IT, US/CA)


As a DataStage ETL Engineer, you will work with a world-class, energetic team to develop and maintain an automated hybrid on-prem/cloud ETL pipeline. You will work in an agile environment implementing sustainable and future-resilient design patterns and best practices and will set the standard in an ecosystem of the latest technologies in the marketplace, tackling challenging problems in the process.

  • Rhode Island, USA – 1 team
  • Pune, India – 1 team
  • 10 Engineers and QA’s in Pune
  • Daily stand-ups are around 9 am – 11.30 am EDT (depends on the team)

This role is contract (1099 or C2C), contracted with resource supplier on ES paper.


5+ Years experience developing IBM DataStage ETL/ELT processes

Ability to translate ideas and business requirements into fully functioning ETL workflows
Experience in managing data lineage and performing impact analyses
Experience designing and implementing data strategies in enterprise-level data stores/marts

Well versed in data modeling concepts such as Normalization and De-normalization

Candidates with hands-on experience in Linux/Unix

Experience developing and debugging Autosys jobs

Strong software development and debug/troubleshooting skills

Advanced skill in creating and maintaining technical documentation

Solid foundation in software UAT and Defect Management in a CICD environment
Hand-on experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar

Hands-on, working knowledge of modern CICD processes and GitHub/GitLab/Jenkins
Self-starter that can come up to speed on the existing solution and take ownership
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to excel in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
Strong communication skills in English both written and verbal
BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline


Experience working in an Agile environment, comfortable with iterative SDLC

Ability and willingness to provide technical support & tracking of risks/issues
Understanding business applications deployment strategies
Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Hands-on experience querying MS SQL databases
Good understanding of JSON, XML, ORC, Parquet and other open standards for data interchange


Design, Develop and Test IBM DataStage ETL/ELT processes
Perform data analysis, data migration, performance tuning & change control.
Ownership of SDLC processes for project task delivery
Develop and schedule Autosys and DataStage jobs and process monitoring
Proactively solving technical challenges
Contribute ideas on the development of the technical data transformation ecosystem
Review application documentation to ensure a smooth hand over to QA and PO’s / PM
Work closely with your offshore and onshore technical and management colleagues in troubleshooting and problem-solving
