PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly proficient Senior BI / Analytics Engineer to serve as a technical anchor for our modern data stack and business intelligence ecosystem. This senior, hands-on role sits at the intersection of data transformation, semantic layer governance, advanced BI reporting, and front-end script modeling. Reporting to the Director of Data Architecture, you will own the transformation layer in dbt, govern our semantic models in Sigma (supporting our internal / external BI operations), and lead downstream data modeling for active platform cutovers. Additionally, you will bring front-end scripting expertise (JavaScript/D3.js) to manage, refine, and productize AI-generated visualization code (e.g., Abacus.AI outputs), allowing analysts to setup custom visualizations through a production pipeline to ensure client dashboards remain unaffected.

Location: LATAM
Stand ups: Daily 10 a.m. EST stand-ups; 1:30 p.m. EST every other Tuesday; 2-3 pm EST on Wednesdays every other week.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: 4–6+ years of progressive experience in Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Analysis, with a strong emphasis on data modeling and front-end analytics delivery.
Transformation Stack: Expert-level proficiency with dbt (dbt Core or dbt Cloud) and advanced dimensional modeling techniques (Facts, Dimensions, Data Vault, or semantic layers).
SQL & Warehouse Expertise: Master-level SQL skills applied within Snowflake (or equivalent cloud data warehouses), including optimization of complex analytical queries, window functions, and views.
Semantic Layer & BI Tools: Demonstrated experience building and governing semantic layers, metrics definitions, and enterprise dashboards in modern BI platforms (specifically Sigma, or tools like Looker/Power BI).
Custom Visualization & JS Scripting: Practical experience with JavaScript (ES6+) and hands-on experience working with and customizing D3.js (or similar JS visualization libraries) to build interactive charts and custom UI widgets.
Platform Integration Skills: Familiarity with ingesting and modeling data from SaaS platforms, IDP/authentication systems (Supabase), relational document databases (MongoDB), and event tracking tools.
Version Control & Engineering Rigor: Proficient with Git/GitHub workflows, environment management (DEV/UAT/PROD), and automated testing practices for data models.
Technical Leadership: Proven ability to mentor junior/mid-level analysts, translate ambiguous business requirements into extensible data models, and independently drive technical projects to completion.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cutover Modeling & Transformations: Own data modeling, transformations, and staging layers for ongoing platform cutovers and migrations, specifically incorporating data from ON24, Airtable, Supabase, and legacy databases (SQL Server, Postgres and MongoDB).
External BI & Semantic Governance: Manage technical modeling, permissions, plugins, and semantic layer governance in Sigma to scale our Internal / client facing reporting. Serve as the primary technical unblocker for internal analyst teams as they request complex calculations, plugins, and new features in Sigma.
JavaScript & D3.js Management: Utilize JavaScript to support and maintain custom data visualizations. Take ownership of maintaining, debugging, and enhancing D3.js scripts generated by internal AI tools (such as Abacus.AI) to deliver tailored, interactive analytics components.
dbt Modeling & Architecture: Design, build, and maintain production-grade dimensional models in Snowflake using dbt. Establish modular dbt code standards, semantic metrics, and testing suites to ensure data integrity from raw tables down to presentation layers.
BI Architecture & Scalable Frameworks: Architect high-performance reporting templates, semantic models, and embedded analytics structures in Sigma. Design the core design patterns and automated frameworks that enable a small analyst team to efficiently scale, manage, and maintain dashboards across hundreds of client endpoints.
CI/CD, Testing & Analytics Support: Partner with engineering to maintain versioned release workflows (DEV to PROD) for semantic models and dashboards using Git/GitHub. Establish automated data quality tests in dbt and Sigma to prevent upstream breaking changes from impacting client reporting.
