Remote Full Stack Engineer (Ruby-on-Rails, React, AWS, DevOps skills) #26591

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

• Fulltime Contractor
• Fully Remote — work from anywhere in the world
• Significant overlap with PST required (5+ hours) for collaboration with CTO and team
• Occasional virtual team meetups

Interview Process:
• Initial call with CTO (30 min) — culture fit and high-level technical discussion
• Technical interview (90 min) — full-stack coding, DevOps scenarios OR extended technical discussion
• Final call with team

PROJECT STACK and TEAM:

• Product Ownership: You'll own features that thousands of shop owners depend on daily. Your code directly impacts real businesses.
• Full-Stack + DevOps: Build features AND ensure they run reliably in production. Complete ownership from code to deployment.
• Direct CTO Collaboration: Work closely with our CTO who's hands-on, technical, and invested in your growth.
• Infrastructure Impact: Shape how we deploy, monitor, and scale our platform. Your DevOps work ensures reliability.
• Real Users, Real Problems: Build for actual repair service shops. Talk to customers, understand their workflows, see your work make a difference.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS:

• Polyglot engineer — well-versed in multiple programming languages beyond Ruby/JavaScript (Typescript, React)
• Payment processing experience — Stripe or similar, subscriptions, complex billing
• B2B SaaS experience — multi-tenant architecture, business workflows
• Building for non-technical users — small businesses, traditional industries
• Background jobs and async processing — Sidekiq, job queues
• Real-time features — WebSockets, Action Cable
• Startup experience — fast-paced, wear multiple hats
• Performance optimization — profiling, caching, query optimization
• Eagerness to learn — pick up new technologies quickly

GOOD TO HAVE:

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Container experience (Docker) for future needs
• Previous experience setting up monitoring from scratch
• Security certifications or deep security knowledge
• Open source contributions in Rails, React, or DevOps tools
• Understanding of traditional/blue-collar industries
• Experience with Heroku or similar PaaS
• Previous startup or small team experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

You DON'T need to
• Be a Kubernetes expert or DevOps specialist
• Have deep infrastructure-as-code experience (though it's a bonus)
• Know every monitoring tool or cloud service
• Have SRE or platform engineering background

You DO need to
• Be comfortable deploying code and debugging production issues
• Set up CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
• Monitor application health and respond to alerts
• Optimize database performance and infrastructure costs
• Handle production incidents calmly and effectively
