Senior Data Engineer (Remote, Snowflake / Ingestion & Security Focus, LATAM) #2700
... create world-changing products using God-given talents . . .
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Our Client is leading B2B media and marketing organization dedicated to connecting life sciences professionals with industry suppliers to accelerate research, development, and manufacturing. The organization helps professionals identify market opportunities through strategic partnerships and meaningful business connections, supporting the advancement of innovative therapies, medical devices, and healthcare solutions. It delivers high-quality, engaging, and informative content to a loyal professional audience while providing comprehensive sales and marketing solutions that help partners build, strengthen, and maintain a robust business development pipeline.
We are seeking a highly proficient Senior Data Engineer to be a core contributor to our modern data ecosystem. This is a critical, hands-on role focused on owning data ingestion, storage, pipeline infrastructure, and assisting with overall data security across our analytics stack.
Reporting to the Director of Data Architecture, you will be responsible for building resilient data pipelines, supporting major platform cutovers, and implementing robust access governance (RBAC) and compliance framework controls (SOC II & GDPR). You will deliver clean, secure, timely raw data to our downstream Analytics Engineering team, enabling them to focus on modeling, transformation (using dbt), and client reporting in Snowflake and Sigma.
PROJECT STACK and TEAM:
The contract is 6 months with possible extension (very likely).
Working hours US Eastern Time.
Location: LATAM
Stand ups: Daily 10 a.m. EST stand-ups; 1:30 p.m. EST every other Tuesday; 2-3 pm EST on Wednesdays every other week.
Start Date: ASAP
MAIN REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: 4–6+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering with a focus on production ingestion pipelines and data platform administration.
Modern Data Stack: Practical experience managing ingestion into Snowflake using Fivetran, custom scripts, or cloud data pipelines.
Security & Governance: Demonstrated experience establishing and managing RBAC policies, access roles, and audit compliance controls (SOC II, GDPR).
Source Integration: Proven track record ingesting data from relational databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL/Supabase), REST APIs, webhooks, and SaaS tools (Airtable, ON24).
Core Technical Skills: Advanced SQL proficiency (DDL/DML) and strong scripting skills in Python for automated pipeline logic and security scripts.
Version Control & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Git-based CI/CD workflows for data engineering environments.
Ownership Mindset: Ability to independently manage technical initiatives end-to-end, balance security controls with operational efficiency, and communicate clearly across engineering teams.
GOOD TO HAVE:
Effective Communication – Clear, professional, and adaptable.
Teamwork & Collaboration – Works well with others to achieve goals.
Problem-Solving – Thinks critically and finds solutions.
Adaptability – Flexible and open to change.
Time Management – Prioritizes tasks and meets deadlines efficiently.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Launch & Cutover Ingestion: Design, build, and maintain robust pipelines and staging layers for ongoing site cutovers and platform migrations, specifically ingesting data from ON24, Airtable, double opt-in capture, Supabase (IDP modeling), and MongoDB deprecation. Integrate endpoints across custom APIs, webhooks, SFTPs, and cloud storage.
Security, RBAC & Compliance Governance: Assist our Staff Data Engineer with data security needs, supporting ongoing SOC II and GDPR compliance protocols. Assist with setup and maintenance of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) across Snowflake, Fivetran, and Sigma (supporting Cerebro / Templeton v1.1 reporting) to ensure proper permissions without blocking analyst productivity.
Warehouse Staging & Architecture: Implement efficient loading patterns into Snowflake using Fivetran, Python, or cloud loaders. Focus on load performance, schema evolution, and cost control so data lands in a clean format ready for downstream analytics engineering.
Orchestration & Optimization: Build and manage dependency-aware pipeline orchestrations within Azure Data Factory or alternative schedulers. Actively identify and implement performance tuning in Snowflake and ingestion jobs to reduce latency and optimize cloud spend.
CI/CD & Pipeline Infrastructure: Partner with the team to build versioned release workflows (DEV to PROD) using Git/GitHub for internal tools and client-facing endpoints (API/SFTP/Templeton). Maintain robust logging, alerting, and error-handling to guarantee continuous pipeline uptime and high data availability.
