Senior DevOps Engineer (SRE, AWS, LATAM)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION::

We help commercial service companies deliver an amazing customer experience and increase the value of their business.

We are a software-as-a-service platform that manages job scheduling, technician scheduling, and efficient routing for single or multiple offices in an easy user interface. Documentation of the work performed is stored online and delivered to customers’ inboxes for always-on access to service history. Online communication and coordination between field technicians, the home office, and the customer make each appointment more professional.

PROJECT STACK and TEAM::

Team: located in PST (California) and EST (North Carolina) time zones;

Ideal working hours overlap: 8 AM PST – 5 PM PST

Two interview stages:

  • 1st  with the team
  • 2nd with the Director of Engineering

About the project: We began in 2012 and now serve more than 800 commercial service contractors that manage more than 12,000 skilled technicians across the US and Canada. Our customers provide inspection, maintenance, and repair services to commercial and industrial facilities to keep them safe, fully operational, and compliant.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS::

• Web application infrastructure experience, with AWS experience required
• Linux system administration experience required
• Prior experience with horizontal scaling of web application infrastructure
• MySQL database administration
• CI/CD Pipeline
◦ Jenkins or similar CI/automation tools
◦ Unit, integration, and load-testing tools
• Infrastructure as code
◦ Puppet or similar system automation tools
◦ Github actions
◦ Cloudformation / Terraform

GOOD TO HAVE::

• ElasticSearch (ELK), AWS Cloudwatch, Datadog, or related logging/monitoring tools
• Web application development experience, with PHP or Javascript framework experience is a plus
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is strongly preferred
• Experience with AWS Lambda or other serverless environments is a plus
• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with Docker is a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Azure is a plus
• Experience with Postgres is a plus

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES::

• Responsible for uptime, performance, security, and stability of ServiceTrade’s applications, including:
◦ Amazon Web Services infrastructure management
◦ EC2 LAMP stack application server administration, monitoring and tuning
◦ RDS (MySQL) server administration, monitoring, and tuning
• Support development teams infrastructure needs for project initiatives
• Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
• Troubleshoot production/developer issues with minimal supervision
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation
• Maintaining application configuration/environment
